Privacy policy

Lertha is a personal finance coaching service built in Lagos, Nigeria, and operated by Lertha Technologies Limited (“Lertha”, “we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. This policy explains what we collect through lertha.com and, once launched, the Lertha app, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

Lertha Technologies Limited is registered with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as a data controller/processor of major importance, pursuant to Section 44 of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Registration ID NDPC/DCP/14612, issued 17 September 2026.

Lertha is a financial technology company, not a bank. We do not hold deposits and we never move your money.

Waitlist. When you join the waitlist we store your email address, the page you joined from, and the site that referred you. We use this to send you launch and early-access emails and to understand where sign-ups come from.

Analytics. With your consent we use PostHog to measure which parts of the site are useful. We do not use advertising trackers, we do not record sessions, and we do not sell or share analytics data. You can decline in the banner, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.

Contact. If you email us, we keep the message so we can reply and follow up.

Job applications. If you apply through our careers page we store what you send us: your name, contact details, any links, your CV, and anything you write to us. We use it to consider you for the role you applied for and for other roles we think fit. Only the people hiring at Lertha see it, and we never use it for anything else.

When you connect a bank account, Lertha receives read-only balance and transaction data through a regulated open-banking partner. We never see or store your bank login. Lertha cannot initiate payments or move money.

We also process the information you give us in the app (your goals, your answers to the money personality check, messages you send to Wendy) and technical data needed to run the service (device type, app version, crash reports).

To provide the coaching you asked for: reading your spending, building your Freedom Score and Money Blueprint, and sending nudges.

To keep the service secure, detect abuse, and comply with the law.

To improve Lertha, using aggregated and de-identified data wherever possible.

To contact you about the service. We only send marketing where you have opted in, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the regulations and guidance issued under it. You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to ask us to delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to receive a copy of your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, ask through the chat on any page of this site, or email wendy@lertha.com. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, quoting our registration ID NDPC/DCP/14612.

You can request deletion from inside the app or by email. Your account enters a 120-day grace period in which you can change your mind, after which it is permanently erased. A minimal record may be kept where the law requires it, for no longer than five years.

Waitlist emails are kept until launch and for 12 months after, or until you unsubscribe, whichever is sooner.

Analytics data is kept for 12 months in aggregate form.

Job applications are kept for 12 months after we reply, so we can come back to you when something opens up. Ask us at any time and we will delete yours sooner.

App data is kept while your account is active and removed under the deletion process above.

We use a small number of providers to run Lertha: hosting and databases, email delivery, open-banking connections, and analytics. Each processes data only on our instructions and under a written contract. We never sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

Some providers store data outside Nigeria. Where they do, we rely on contractual safeguards that meet the cross-border transfer requirements of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside Lertha is limited to people who need it to do their job, and every access is logged.

Lertha is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

We will post any changes here and update the effective date. For material changes we will also email waitlist members and app users.
